Rand McNally Statement Regarding Lake America Naming Update
Rand McNally updates its maps, atlases and digital products in accordance with the most current naming standards adopted by the U.S. Board on Geographic Names and the Department of the Interior. Consistent with our long-standing policy, the previous name will be shown in parentheses below the new name as space permits, providing our customers with the most accurate representation of geographical information.
GNIS has approved the updates to its geographic data and base maps to reflect the federal naming change. Rand McNally will follow the implementation process directed by the federal executive order as we update our maps and atlases regarding the renaming of Lake Ontario to Lake America.
